Looking for a good cozy mystery to start off your halloween? Then you should go get
It is the 2nd book in the Cupcake Catering Mystery Series by
OMG, the recipes in this book seriously made me hungry! So note, don’t read this if you are hungry, it will make it worse, lol. It talks about really good food right at the beginning.
Whew, Emory is definitely not an extremely gullible person in this book. However, her interrogation/interview skills need work. she’s like a Mac truck and just plows on through. I can just imagine the dirty looks she gets from Tillie when she steps in to ask her questions and messes up Tillie’s flow.
Well, we already know that poor Emory is going to find a first body that’s a given and that it’s the barmaid that causes quite the scene during the halloween party. but, wow, I didn’t expect the second person. I thought they’d run the witch out of town or something, but nope, have another dead body! The killer took me completely by surprise, what an interesting twist. I didn’t suspect the person until right near the end.
My least favorite person in this story was Teddy. Man what a jerk he is. sometimes Brian is that way too, but he makes up for it later, smiles. That’s a good thing since he acts like he has a crush on Emory.
Throughout the story I feel so sorry for Tillie with all that her family puts her through and how they make her feel or try to feel. she is one tough woman and bounces back from what stressful moments are thrown her way.
For those that have read the first book in the series in audio format Kim Davis has mentioned that the rest of the books are contracted for audio as well and the narrator should be the same
Yay, now I’m all caught up on this series! Let’s see what I can find next.
I had to be careful with this review that I didn’t give anything away, lol. I have some friends that are just starting this series. But it was great seeing where everything started. Can’t wait for book 6 and the trouble Tillie and Emory will get into.
Thank you so much for the wonderful review, May! I’m so glad you enjoyed the series and I’m dreaming up new plots to ensnare Emory and Tillie 🙂
