LD Training1 Leader Dog Class 26-02 Travel Day

Welcome to Leader Dog class 26-02!

Before I get into it just a couple of things.

Note:
I will only mention first names. So if you know someone or think you know someone, awesome sauce. No full names will be given unless they let me know they are cool with it.

Note:
The plan is to have entries done at the end of the day or before the next set of adventures of the day begins. As all plans go, something may fall apart, lol. I mean it is me, so there you go!

The time is here once again. Sooner than I like, but here I am.

I arrived at Leader around 1:45PM which was definitely different than last time. Ha, I was like super early when I was here to get my Wrennie the Pooh. This class will be full of lots of fun and comparing now and then since I learned about several changes that were made.

They changed it on me!

This time I am in room 13 which is in the Rochester wing. This is the same wing I was in the first time I came to Leader and got my Luna Moon!

Now, when I was here to get Luna and when I got Wren in 2019 the Rochester wing is the one that was used to leave and come back from training. So when I learned I was on this wing again I was like ok, at least I can wait until like the last minute before I have to go out.

Oh no no no, Leader had to go and break things on me. They changed it. Now when going out for training we go out by door 30. 30! That is waaaaaaaay on the other end of the world you know. So not only do I have to work to get my food, but I also have to work to go work. Like who decided on this madness? I demand a refund!

That bed tried to kill me!

The fun begins early this time. The bed tries to kill me and I just got here. Again, I demand a refund! Who do I talk to about this?

Go over to the bed and just plop right down so I could get my heavy freaken backpack off my back and bam the bed tries to throw me right back off.

Erm, what in the world just happened?

Wow, the bed is super soft now, I say as I recover from the near death experience.

Bridget, who is the one that brought me to the room picks this time to inform me then, oh yes, we have new beds now. They are firmer.

Me, if that’s firmer, I’d hate to see soft.

So, beware of the killer beds that will attempt to throw you across the room. They are softer now than before for those that may remember the super tall beds. They are also pillow tops and fullsize. so no more big bed either.

The next cool new thing in the rooms is a much better chair that doesn’t try and kill you and is much better to sit in. The rooms now have recliners and depending on your room style will depend on where the recliner is in your room. my is on the other side of my bed by the window. Great since again, less things to try and beat me up in this room the better.

Now another important thing I’d like to mention in the room before I move on is we now get backpacks, this includes the mobility clients. I am not sure when they started this, but it definitely was not a thing when I got Wren in 2019. It is also a nicer backpack than the Leader one I have at home. You are also given a water bottle.

Now for us guide dog users, all of the dog supplies are in the backpack. Sorry mobility clients, you only get the water bottle. Like I’d protest too and demand like a spare cane or something to get in yours, 🙂

While I’m on the topic of new things I’ll tell you about the things outside of the room.

So in the resident center the bending machines are all gone. There is now a nice little fridge in there with all sorts of drinks for you to choose from with the snacks right next to it. These are now free for all clients. This change was made at least within the last year because when I came to visit in August of last year the vending machines were still here.

Who wants ice cream?

There is a new ice cream machine here now and you get more than 3 choices this time! However, it’s waaaaaaaay too many disgusting chocolate ones in there. I protest!

Erm, think I better make a protest list this class. What do you think?

The winning table is!

So, as I discovered when I was doing the podcast for this training entry I have been at the same table each time I’ve been here. I think Leader likes to keep me near the exits so that they can get rid of me sooner, mahahahahahah! So, once again I am at table 4, the awesome table. Different chair though. 3 different chairs, but the same table.

So, at my table we have:

Sandy, new guide dog client
Sarah, a retrain
Wendy, a retrain
Kyle, a mobility client

Yes, poor Kyle is the only guy at a table with us crazy women, mahahahhaah!

Me, Hi Sandy, what chair number are you?
Sandy, number 7
Me to Sarah, and what about you Sarah?
Sarah, I’m number 5. What’s yours May?
Me, I’m number 1 of course, what else?
Sarah, of course, what was I thinking? Why did I even ask?

Next amusing table conversation:
Kyle, I took my first ever plane ride.
Sarah, how did you like it?
Kyle, it was great. Do you want to know my favorite part?
Sarah, yes, what’s that?
Kyle, I love the turbulence.
The whole table, what? Are you crazy?
Kyle, oh yes.
Amyrose: The part i hate is the drop.
Kyle, oh, I love that part too.
Me, he’s absolutely nuts!

Here’s another protest! Seriously need that list made.

So, before I got here I said that I would be nice to Amyrose due to it being the first night and super crazy around here. Well, erm, I think I forgot to get that same deal from her. That darn woman picked on me and I couldn’t retaliate. I want my money back on that deal!

Last thing before I go because this entry is as long as a book I think, 🙂

Another change that I forgot to mention above. The library is no longer the library. poof finally it’s all gone. It is now Crista’s office. and oops, sorry if I spelled your name wrong. I’ll learn how to spell later, honest.
