Wow how time flies! Can you believe it’s been a week already? That’s right, baby J is already one week old and boy what a ride it’s been! Sleep, what sleep/ That thing and I weren’t friends even before I was pregnant and it’s nice to see that really hasn’t changed much.
So, the joys of staying in a hospital after giving birth, just ugh! I mean, do these nurses and doctors have a special class in how to disturb a patient when they are sleeping so they can poke and prod you? Hell, it reminds me of waiter and waitresses that ask, how’s your meal” when your mouth is full, lol.
Anytime J finally went to sleep along comes a nurse . . .
It’s time for his bath
It’s time for some test
It’s time for some shots
I need to take his vitals
I mean seriously, can’t you guys do this when he is…I don’t know, actually awake? He does stay awake for a while you know, sheesh!
One day we really had a rough night and didn’t get much sleep at all until like after 1 in the afternoon. Sure enough as soon as we got to sleep all cuddle up I get this nice beep from the nurses station . . .
Nurse, May, can I come in and get your vitals?
Me, *grumbles curse* sure, why not.
Of course she then felt bad after she discovered that we had just finally went to sleep and told all other doctors and nurses to like wait until either I call them or they see the light on my phone is on, then they’d know I was awake, lol.
Now J definitely had all the nurses fooled and you think they would have caught on after like the third time, but noooooo, hahahah.
Since they kept disturbing his sleep to do some kind of poking and prodding on him, he got to the point where he’d show signs of he really really needed to eat…like right now! He’d really start sucking his fingers or opening his mouth really big and looking for his food. So they’d bring him to me and be like . . .
Nurse, May, he’s really hungry!
However, hahah, the moment they handed him to me, he curl up, close his eyes and went to sleep.
Me, Are you sure he was hungry?
Nurse, yes, he was like sucking on his fingers and everything.
Me, mhmm, sure sure, doesn’t look like it to me. Looks like he fooled you guys, hahaha.
Now for our time at home
Another night owl?
Ooopps, think I created another night owl. As if I wasn’t enough in this household, lol.
Baby J will sleep just fine during the day in his room or in his play-yard, but come night time…no way, forget it. I can’t get him to stay in his room to save my life for more than 10 or 15 minutes. Unless he is with me and we’re laying down in our bed, he will not go to sleep. He must be up with mommy. Hmm, think this may pose a problem when I go back to work, lol.
Daddy earns his *over here* blind sign from baby J
One day Jerry went to give J his pacifier and J like took his little hand and shoved his daddy’s hand towards his face like…over here dad, my mouth is this way! Hahahahah, this has happened twice this week.
The funny thing is, J does not do this with me at all. Kind of reminds me of my daughter and how she was when she was little with the whole blindness thing with her dad and I. She’d be one way with me and a completely different way with her dad. So for now it looks like J will be like his sister there, but only time will tell.
Baseball player when he grows up?
Speaking of that darn pacifier, I kind of hate that he’s gotten attached to one, but ah well. Could be worse things he’s attached to, right?
Well, we think he could be one hell of a baseball player if he chooses. The little guy can definitely throw the pacifier far when he decides he doesn’t want it. There have been times it’s at the other end of his bed or on the other side of his play-yard. And of course if we take too long finding it to give it back to him he gets pissed off! lol, figure that one. It’s not our fault little guy that you decided to throw it across the moon and we have to hunt for it, smiles.
music snob!
Wow, only a week old and already lets us know what music he refuses to listen too. Jerry and I run our own radio station, www.phoenixfirefm.net that has a family side and an adult side and one day we decided that we’d have kids music play on the family side and put that on in Jaydon’s room. Well, that went over like a led balloon! He was not pleased with our choice of music for him. He let us know in his way of course…by screaming, that that was not the music he was use to hearing and he wanted it gone and right now!
Another time he was laying in his play-yard and the live version of “Hot Blooded” by Foreigner came on and he screamed about that one too, lol.
So, that’s been our week with the little guy so far. Stay tuned because I’m sure they will be more!
