Here is a day that I have been waiting for, the day we get to do the nighttime route. Of course, we have to get through the daytime first, but meh, details! lol.
For those that haven’t been to Leader before on nighttime route days we work on the route first during the day so that way we have some idea of what is around and possible problems may be there. Ha, and in this case we had construction. Like seriously, construction, when isn’t there construction? sighs They were building a house on the route we were going to take. so just had to make some minor adjustments. This actually worked out prettty cool for Monte and I since he got a Leader Dog in training distraction. Sadly, can’t remember the name, but both dogs did an awesome job of ignoring each other.
Go future Leader Dog!
Oh no, there’s football fans among us
Yes, ladies and gentleman, it’s the first night of football. Bleh! I prefer basketball.
Anyways, here’s the night we discovered we definitely have some football fans in our group and routing against each other. They were not too happy at first to discover that our nighttime route started when the game did.
Ah, so me being me, pulled out my phone and turned the game on for them.
Whoops, what a mistake that was! Everyone run!
NVM, I get to leave, it’s my turn for the route. Whew! I escape the madness.
Good gods people are crazy
So for the nighttime walk with Monte work wise he did an awesome job. He is even more cautious when we are traveling at night to keep me safe. This I definitely like. In my opinion he seemed more focus than he is during the day. Now if only he didn’t look so friendly and was black I bet people wouldn’t want to talk to him either, 🙂
Amusing note
Erm, Learned from Stephanie that Monte even took me around a pile of poop that was in the middle of the sidewalk. LMAO, seriously! Like thanks Monte because I’d seriously not wish to step in dog crap and be down a pair of shoes. What an awesome considerate boy I have. But damnit people, clean up after your dogs will you?
Drunk women and chicken
Monte got his first experience with a crowd of idiot cackling drunk women who were right where we needed to go. I could hear them halfway down the block and they were at the curb. Like, OMG, this could get interesting.
Monte and I approach the curb
Drunk lady, oo, what a pretty puppy. proceeds to try and pet Monte
Me to Monte, leave it Monte
Drunk lady, he’s soooo cute
Other drunk lady, hey, you’re not suppose to pet him, he’s working idiot.
First drunk lady, oh, giggles oopsy, sorry, pretty puppy. Then proceeds to the damn truck that just pulled up in front of us and speaks to the driver.
Me, sighs why me. such a good boy Monte. Now can these damn drunk women move along. Oh yeah, and take the truck with you.
That wasn’t the end of the drunk idiots either. They sadly kept going the same way I was. But I made Monte slow down so hopefully they’d go away before I got to the next curb or something.
Remember that chicken part I mentioned at the beginning? Yeah, well, here’s where that comes in, lol.
The drunk cackling idiots are still in front of me, but this time I wait and let them cross so that Monte is not subjected with their, erm, attention again. And they happily cross the road and go off in some other direction. stephanie and I of course are highly amused by the drunk idiots and proceed to cross when it’s our turn.
Now one thing I have noticed with monte which is an easy fix, sometimes, is that he was starting to not stop or slow down once we approached the up curbs. so to fix this and remind him, hey pal, this is where we either stop or slow down to let me know there’s a curb, I praise him and give him a treat for reenforcement when he does.
Well, at this particular curb I did just that. Ha, and learned right after we started moving again that there was a piece of chicken right in front of Monte. stephanie told me that Monte looked at the chicken, looked at me and then back at the chicken, shook his head and then kept going as I asked.
Lol, what an awesome dog. However, that leads me to wonder as I said to Stephanie, I wonder if one of those cackling drunk idiots lost their dinner along the way?
Amusing note
I learned that while other members were out that the 2 team members that were big football fans passed each other and had an interesting exchange.
Bob to Judy, Dallas sucks as he passes her by
Judy to Dave, did he just say what I thought he did?
LMAO, what a group!
See you next time. Have an awesome day!
